Tales of Robin Hood Closes Down

Summer 2009

Update

Sadly, further to the story below, it has now been confirmed that the Tales of Robin Hood has closed down, probably for ever as we remember it.

At the moment, there don't seem to be any plans to re-open this attraction which has many happy memories for lots of people who have come to Nottingham searching for Robin Hood.

We'll keep you updated on any news we get about how this massive blow can be addressed.

January 2009

It's a brief stroll from Nottingham Castle to the Tales of Robin Hood in the heart of Nottingham, but now this tourist attraction looks likely to be another part of the City's history unless the threat of imminent closure is lifted.

Financial problems around rent increases and arrears have beset the attraction and now Chief Executive Ian Walker has revealed that staff, including Robin Hood and Maid Marian themselves face redundancy within weeks if the problems can't be resolved.

Mr Walker said: "The attraction broke even throughout the year when we were paying rent of about £30,000, without depreciation, but it needs more visitors, new attractions and we need to grab new audiences that we are not getting at the moment.

And in an attempt to get visitors to come along to see what's on offer at "the Tales" there is a special offer where people can visit "The Tales of Robin Hood" for free until Sunday 4th January 2009 and sign a petition to keep it open.
