Robin Hood at Nottingham Castle

A new series of tours at Nottingham Castle gave visitors the chance to unravel the secrets and mysteries of the Robin Hood legend in the company of "Blacke Dickon", a Royal Forester from the time of medieval England.

On the tour Royal Forester Blacke Dickon (aka Robin Hood expert Richard Rutherford-Moore) told of the real historic adventures and events that link our favourite outlaw to Nottingham Castle and to the city of Nottingham.

Taking in sights like the Sheriff's room in the castle gatehouse, Mortimer's Hole and the castle walls and fortifications, Blacke Dickon regaled his attentive audience with tales of life in medieval times and the violent history of Nottingham Castle not to mention frequent references to our old friend Robin Hood.

The tour concluded with a demonstration of medieval weaponry including swords and arrows and a chance for the audience to "knock on and off" with a real longbow!

The Tours proved extremely popular with the audiences and we hope they will continue next year for visitors to Nottingham Castle and Robin Hood enthusiasts to enjoy.
