Nottingham Castle to host exclusive exhibition of the hit BBC series

23 September 2007 - Easter 2008

This autumn Nottingham's most famous legend will be making a welcome return to Nottingham Castle…

Last year the BBC's new Robin Hood TV series entertained a new generation of viewers. Fun, modern and intelligent, it was a unique blend of exhilarating action adventure, wit and romance.

The hotly anticipated second series will be returning to our screens this October and to coincide with its release Nottingham City Council has proudly announced the presentation of "Robin Hood Up Close".

Opening at Nottingham Castle on Sunday 23 September, Robin Hood Up Close is a brand new exhibition featuring the actual props and costumes used in the highly acclaimed BBC series.

The exhibition is to be designed specifically for the site, and members of Nottingham City Council's Cultural Services team were instrumental in its development, working closely with the BBC and Tiger Aspect to bring the exclusive displays to the city.

Richard Hollis, BBC Worldwide, Head of UK Licensing said: "We are thrilled to be able to work with Nottingham City Council and bring Robin Hood Up Close to Nottingham Castle which provides the perfect setting. The exhibition will recreate and bring to life the shows four main areas; Sherwood Forest, Loxley Manor, Nottingham and the Castle. The link with the exciting and dramatic TV series can only re-enforce Nottingham Castle as one of the city's top attractions."

Visitors will be taken on an interactive journey through the exhibition, guided by characters from the show. They'll be able to discover what goes on behind the scenes, see the costumes and props up close and hear how it all comes together in the 'Robin Hood Academy'.

Peter Milton, Head of Cultural Services for Nottingham City Council said: "Research has shown that visitors to Nottingham Castle would like to see more of the city's most famous legend and Robin Hood Up Close provides the unique opportunity to do just that. We have worked with the BBC and Tiger Aspect to create a bespoke exhibition to ensure that Robin is brought home, here, to the people of Nottingham."

Dominic Minghella and Foz Allan, the show's creators and Executive Producers, reiterated this feeling: "We are delighted that Robin Hood Up Close is coming to Nottingham Castle. Could there be a better place in England for Robin to be revealed? A clue - no! Robin's coming home!"

The exhibition will open to the public on Sunday 23 September and promises to be a must-visit, whether people want the chance to discover how make-up is used to create the cuts and bruises, hear the sheriff hurl abuse, or find out more about Robin himself

We will be bringing you more news about this exciting event as soon as we get it. We anticipate that there will be many Robin Hood fans who will want to come along to Nottingham to experience this exciting event for themselves.
