The 3rd. Robin Hood Faire

Hammond Castle, Massachusetts, USA

19th to 21st July 2002

More than 3,800 happy patrons attended 2002 Robin Hood Faire at Hammond Castle in Gloucester, Massachusetts last month, topping last year's attendance of approximately 3,000. This was Pastimes' third production of the show, and by far the most successful.

Our thanks to the organisers of the event who have allowed us to reproduce some pictures from the weekends proceedings below.

The crowds were enthusiastic and playful, and were quickly drawn into the world of Robin Hood. Many children (and a few adults) were recruited as honorary Merry Men by Robin himself (played for a third consecutive year by Michael J. Salzman). Not to be outdone, Prince John (Brian Teixeira), the Sheriff of Nottingham (Clifford M. Allen, a member of the World Wide Robin Hood Society and also one of the show's fight choreographers) and their guards named several patrons honorary Normans
The faire managed to raise more than $25,000 (before expenses) for Hammond Castle, which will use the money to pay for restoration and repair projects, and took in several hundred non-perishable food items for the Cape Ann Food Pantry through its "Give to the Poor" food drive.

The popularity of last year's one-weekend show prompted the addition of a third day this year, and due to the success of this year's show, the 2003 Robin Hood Faire will run for two weekends!
